From Cardiff (71 miles)

Head north out of Cardiff on the A470, following signs for Merthyr Tydfil, and then continue on the A470 following signs for Brecon. Upon approaching Brecon, you will briefly join the A40 eastbound, signposted for Abergavenny, but you should then take the 2nd exit at a roundabout a short while ahead signposted for the A470 for Hereford and Builth Wells. Keep following the A470 until you come to Builth Wells, where you should then join the A483 signposted for Llandrindod Wells. Follow the road until you come into the town itself, where you should follow local signs for Llandrindod Wells town centre.

From Swansea (68 miles)

Your journey from Swansea to Llandrindod Wells should take around 1 hour 40 minutes in normal traffic conditions.

Take the M4 westbound out of Swansea, signposted for Carmarthen. Leave the M4 at Junction 49, where you should follow signs for the A483 Llandeilo. At Llandeilo, you should join the A40, in the direction of Llandovery, and once you come to Llandovery, join the A483 in the direction of Builth Wells. Once you come to Builth Wells, stay on the A482, signposted for Llandrindod Wells, and this will take you to the town itself, where you should follow local signs for Llandrindod Wells town centre.

From Liverpool (106 miles)

In light traffic, your journey from Liverpool to Llandrindod Wells should take around 2 hours 20 minutes.

Take the Birkenhead Tunnel south west, in the direction of Birkenhead, and follow signs for the M53 in the direction of Chester and North Wales. The road will become the A55, round Chester, and you should then join the A483 southbound in the direction of Wrexham. Follow this past Wrexham, and follow signs for the A5 Oswestry. Then follow signs for the A5 Shrewsbury, until Mile End Roundabout, where you should take the 3rd exit onto the A483 southbound, signposted for Welshpool. Stay on this road, which will eventually become signposted for Llandrindod Wells, and can be followed all the way to Llandrindod itself. You should then follow local signs for Llandrindod Wells town centre.

From Birmingham (81 miles)

In light traffic, your journey from Birmingham to Llandrindod Wells should take around 2 hours.

Take the A456 south west out of Birmingham, in the direction of the M5 and Kidderminster. You should stay on this road, following signs for Ring Road and then Leominster, and you will eventually come to the A4112, where you should join that road and follow signs for Tenbury, and then Leominster again. Turn onto the A49, again signposted for Leominster, and then onto the A44, signposted for Rhayader. Follow the A44 until you are almost at Llandrindod itself – at Crossgates Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A483, and follow it into the town itself, where you should follow local signs for Llandrindod Wells town centre.

From London (197 miles)

In light traffic, a car journey from London to Llandrindod Wells should take around 4 hours.

Take the M4 west out of London, signposted for The West, Heathrow, Staines and Hounslow. Follow the M4 westbound, passing Reading, Royal Wootton Bassett, Bristol, and across the Second Severn Bridge – which you should be aware is a toll bridge. Leave the M4 at Junction 24, then take the A449 in the direction of The Midlands and Monmouth. Where the road meets the A40, branch left onto the A40 in the direction of Abergavenny, before turning onto the A479 following signs for Builth Wells. Continue forward onto the A470, still following signs for Builth Wells, and once you come to the town itself, follow signs for the A483 Llandrindod Wells, which can be followed to Llandrindod itself. You should then follow local signs for Llandrindod Wells town centre.

BY TRAIN

Llandrindod Wells train station lies on the picturesque Heart of Wales railway line, with connections from the south direct from Craven Arms. Connections from Cardiff Central and Swansea typically require a change at Craven Arms, although there are also some direct services from Swansea to Llandrindod. Services are operated by Arriva Trains Wales.
